Everything you need to know before going live on Dailymotion with StreamKite.
Do I need to keep my computer on while streaming to Dailymotion? ▲
No. StreamKite streams entirely from our cloud servers. Once you configure your Dailymotion slot and hit Go Live, you can close your browser, turn off your PC, and go about your day — your Dailymotion live stream continues 24/7 without any local hardware staying on. This is the fundamental advantage over desktop encoders like OBS.
Where do I find my Dailymotion stream key? ▼
Go to studio.dailymotion.com → log in → click Live in the left sidebar → click Go Live → select "Encoder / External Software". Your Stream Key and Server URL will be shown in the encoder settings panel. Click "Show Key" and then "Copy" to copy it.
What RTMP URL does Dailymotion use? ▼
Dailymotion's primary RTMP ingest URL is rtmp://publish.dailymotion.com/publish/. Enter this in StreamKite's Server URL field and paste your stream key in the separate key field. Always verify the exact URL in your Dailymotion Studio, as Dailymotion may provide a different endpoint based on your account or region.
Does my Dailymotion stream key expire between sessions? ▼
No — Dailymotion stream keys are persistent. Unlike some platforms that generate new keys for each session, your Dailymotion key remains active until you manually regenerate it. This makes Dailymotion ideal for 24/7 cloud streaming with StreamKite: configure it once and your stream runs continuously without credential management.
Can I monetize my 24/7 Dailymotion live stream? ▼
Yes, through Dailymotion's Partner Program. Partners earn revenue from ad impressions on their live streams and VODs. A continuously live channel maximizes your ad inventory exposure — generating revenue around the clock even while you sleep. Apply for the Dailymotion Partner Program in your Studio settings to enable monetization.
What happens if my Dailymotion stream drops mid-broadcast? ▼
StreamKite includes automatic crash recovery. If Dailymotion's RTMP connection drops for any reason — network interruption, Dailymotion maintenance, anything — StreamKite detects it in seconds and automatically reconnects and resumes your stream. No action required from you, no visible interruption to viewers beyond a brief buffering moment.
Can I stream to Dailymotion and other platforms simultaneously? ▼
Yes! Create one StreamKite slot per platform — one for Dailymotion, one for YouTube, one for Twitch, and so on. StreamKite runs all slots simultaneously from our cloud servers. You can broadcast the same or different video files to multiple platforms at the same time from a single StreamKite account.
What video formats does StreamKite accept for Dailymotion streaming? ▼
StreamKite accepts all major formats: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, and more. For Dailymotion, we recommend H.264 encoded MP4 at 1080p with AAC stereo audio at 3,500–4,000 kbps. StreamKite automatically transcodes your video to meet Dailymotion's exact RTMP ingest requirements.
Do I need a special account type to use RTMP streaming on Dailymotion? ▼
Dailymotion live streaming via RTMP is available to standard creator accounts, though some features (like monetization) require the Partner Program. Make sure your account has live streaming enabled — check in Studio → Live → Settings. Some regions or account types may need approval. Contact Dailymotion support if the encoder option doesn't appear in your Studio.
