Everything you need to know before going live on LinkedIn with StreamKite.
Do I need to stay at my computer to stream on LinkedIn Live? ▲
No. StreamKite streams entirely from our cloud servers. Once you configure your LinkedIn Live slot and hit Go Live, you can close your browser, leave the office, attend other meetings — your LinkedIn Live broadcast continues without any local hardware. This is StreamKite's core value proposition for professional creators.
How do I get approved for LinkedIn Live? ▼
LinkedIn Live requires application approval. Visit linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/100225 to apply. You'll need a LinkedIn Page or Profile with an established audience and history of content creation. LinkedIn reviews applications — approval typically takes a few business days. Once approved, the "Go live" option appears in your Page or Profile Admin tools.
Where do I find my LinkedIn Live stream key? ▼
After LinkedIn Live approval, go to your LinkedIn Page or Profile → Admin tools → Create a LinkedIn Live event → set up as "Streaming software". LinkedIn will display your Stream Server URL and Stream Key for the event. This information is unique to each event you create. Copy both the URL and key — you'll enter them in your StreamKite slot.
Does my LinkedIn stream key expire? ▼
Yes — LinkedIn stream keys are typically tied to a specific live event and expire when that event ends. Unlike Kick or Rumble (which have persistent keys), you may need to create a new LinkedIn Live event and generate a new key for each broadcasting session, then update your StreamKite slot accordingly. Some LinkedIn Page setups offer a persistent stream key — check your specific account settings.
Can I stream to a LinkedIn Page, Profile, and Event simultaneously? ▼
Yes, each LinkedIn destination has its own stream key. Create one StreamKite slot per destination — Slot 1 for your Company Page, Slot 2 for your Personal Profile, Slot 3 for a specific Event. StreamKite can run all slots simultaneously from the cloud. Each stream operates independently with its own RTMP connection and can display different or the same video content.
What content works best for LinkedIn Live? ▼
LinkedIn's professional audience responds best to: thought leadership panels, executive Q&A sessions, product launches and demos, company announcements, industry conferences, training and educational content, and behind-the-scenes corporate events. StreamKite works for all these use cases — upload a professionally recorded keynote or panel discussion and loop it 24/7 to build a continuous presence on LinkedIn.
What is the maximum duration for a LinkedIn Live stream? ▼
LinkedIn Live allows a maximum of 8 hours per live session. StreamKite automatically manages session boundaries — reconnecting just before the 8-hour limit expires to create a new session seamlessly. This lets you effectively run extended broadcasts on LinkedIn without the 8-hour cap becoming a barrier to continuous streaming.
What video formats does StreamKite accept for LinkedIn Live? ▼
StreamKite accepts MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, and more. For LinkedIn Live, we recommend H.264 encoded MP4 at 1080p with AAC stereo audio at 3,000–3,500 kbps. StreamKite automatically transcodes your upload to meet LinkedIn's exact RTMP ingest requirements, ensuring professional broadcast quality.
